Oh Crap... So This Is What They Mean By 'Backpacking'...

Did you ever see the film Midnight Express?

Oh shit...
I think we are in the place where it was filmed.

Help!!!!!!!!! I don't like it here!  We're in Chiang Mai in a dark and scary place. Last night was the first time in many many years that I slept fully dressed. There are a lot of mozzies and some other scary biting creatures. You can hear everything that everyone says here... and people like to talk loudly here.

At the moment there seems to be an argument happening at the check in desk.

We have found another place to stay which seems much nicer. I really need a shower and am refusing to take my clothes off in this place, so the sooner we get out of here the better.

The internet signal here is very strong here though, so that's a plus.

Apart from our accommodation / prison, it is nice to be back in Thailand - the land of wonderful food! Chiang Mai is probably very nice, but we've been a bit disorientated today so far and have just wondered around aimlessly for most of the day.

Tomorrow we should wake up in our lovely new (same priced) accommodation and I think that will be the start to a much better experience.

We're going to hang out with elephants and go to an organic farm to learn how to make green curry!

  1. Ouch! Sounds awful! But the elephants and farm will soothe. Good luck with the next place, hope it is better. Isn't it hard choosing the right place to stay? It is your only stress. We have woken to see the flood waters approaching from two sides. I'm afraid our stuff in the garage is quite damp. Sorry.

  2. Sounds like a nightmare but I am happy to hear that you have managed to extricate yourself out of the backpackers lodge where you were too scared to take your clothes off! I'm sure the next place will be a whole lot better. Always be careful of your belongings. In dodgy places they are likely to fly south (like the pigeons but without the pigeons!). Sorry to hear about your camera, Nic. Hopefully this is not the end of your photographs. Oh well, you can always use your cellphone. I only use my iPhone these days and always happy with what comes out. Its also less to worry about and takes up so little space.

Have a great day with the ellies and the organic farm. Maybe you will also do a Thai cooking class. That's what we're going to do in Chiang Mai next year.

Have you dumped the juicer yet?

Enjoy your day. Have a great time!
    Lotsaluv as always and forever
