Hello!
We are Sarah and Nic. We should be off on our travels sometime this year.
So far I've done quite a bit of obscure research, for example I've found some lovely people who look after elephants in a sanctuary in India, and for something like £200 a week we could go and join them and help feed and bathe the elephants, and we sleep with the elephants and everything! It sounds awesome.
I've also found that Pattaya is where the ping pong girls are in Thailand and that cigarettes are really difficult to buy in Mongolia.
I also know that if you accidentally stamp on a banknote in Thailand you will deeply offend the Thai people as you've put your dirty, unhygienic feet on an image of their precious King.
But despite knowing all this useful stuff, we've not actually bought any tickets yet. And we're not really sure where we're going to go. So I've just been faffing about really. So I thought I'd start this blog, it'll be a nice way to show friends and family where we've been and what we thought of it all, but even more importantly it might help us get organised! The theory is if I write some stuff down somewhere, we're less likely to forget it... and, I guess then we're more likely to act on this as well... and something like that.
Anyways... we've both handed our notice in now, so there's no going back! Nic has just over a month to go (I have slightly less as I don't have a ridiculous 3 month notice period). Let me introduce you to Nic now. Here he is:
Isn't he lovely?
When we've done some travelling around Asia, we're going to head to South Africa. Then life is going to be like this:
