We had arranged to meet Nic's mate Dylan in Langkawi for New Years and so this is why we came to Langkawi.
We had a difficult introduction to Langkawi as we were stranded in a car park without any malaysian money for a while. Langkawi is a bastard and it's full of tourists and unhelpful ways.
If you google Langkawi it will lie to you to and say that it is an unspoilt wonderland. Maybe it's just because it is New Years, but this is NOT our experiance.
However, we did have a lovely New Year. We went to Babylon (the only bar that seems worth going to) and there was an awesome reggae band and we danced and watched the stars and the lanterns pass by. There was some sick and some chavs fighting, but not as much as you'd find back home... bonus!

Some good things about Langkawi:
- there are cute monkeys
- there are loads of eagles
- the shower here is pretty good
- Nic's mate Dylan and his girlfriend are here and it's nice to hang out with them
- the whole place smells of poo as they seem to have open sewers along every road
- there are a LOT of chav tourists
- there are a LOT of chav tourist shops
- although the island is tax free, it is actually quite expensive compared to what we've seen in Thailand.
- the food is not very nice. I'm not really sure what Malaysian food is, as they don't really have it here. I'm confused about food here and my stomach isn't as happy as it had been before we got here (although the constant smell of poo doesn't help this at all)
The first photo looks amazing! Happy New Year.
