Today is our last day in Chiang Mai. It is sad to leave such a lovely place, but we've been here nearly 2 weeks now and I'm excited to move on and see some more stuff.
Tomorrow we will head off to Pai (possibly pronounced Bye) which is a bit North West of here. We'll be staying here for the first 3 days, but we decided not to get a treehouse as there was a bit of a concern that there wouldn't be a loo in the trees.
Goodbye lovely Chiang Mai! |
The place seems really lovely and the Lonely Planet says that there are elephants in the grounds! We are elephant experts now, so we can look after them on our own.
After Pai we'll head off to Fang, and we're hoping to stay in doi pha hom pok national park. I think we can either camp in the park or get a bungalow. There are hot springs in the park that you can boil eggs in.
Then I would like to go to Phayao where there is a massive man made lake that has a Wat in it. According to the Australian guy who works in the salad place around the corner from here, it is a very beautiful place.
Then we're planning to go to Laos! Our Thai visa runs out around the 4th February, so we need to leave Thailand to renew it. I am trying to persuade Nic that we need to visit the Plain of Jars while we're in Laos, but I don't think he's as keen. I don't think he can see the point of a load of massive stone jars in a field.

But we'll see... maybe we can go there for my birthday. I think it is where a lot of American bombing went on during the Vietnam war, so it's probably a bit of depressing place for a birthday.
