Ko Lipe

We stopped off in Ko Lipe as a transfer to get to Langkawi. After Bulon, Lipe was a bit of a shock to us. It was full of people and shops and stuff.

Again, everyone said that the whole island was full. Bloody scammers, it's not full but with a load of heavy bags to drag around, and as we were only staying one night we thought fuck it, we'll just take whatever.

We ended up with a very expensive room that smelled of cabbage. It was ok, apart from the overwhelming cabbage smell.

We warmed up to Ko Lipe a bit once we secured our room and went off to find some food (slimey, nasty pad thai) and walked over to a very nice beach, I think it was sunrise beach. Cleverly they have named 2 of their beaches Sunrise and Sunset, so we know what to expect from them.

Lovely beach and views of nearby islands. We walked up a massive hill (probably a mountain) and found the local rasta bar. It wasn't as cool as the one's we had found on previous places, but it was still very nice and chill.

The next day we got on a speedboat that was the most speediest boat ever and bounced up and down a lot holding on desperately until we arrived at Langkawi.

Speedy speed boat

  2. You were spoiled with the previous islands, now you have expectations! Chiang Mai will be different. You should head on over to Chiang Rai on the border. Its more unspoilt and remote.
