Safari

A colonialist being carried about
To be honest, I was not too sure what a safari actually was, but I think I've got it now.

It's what posh white people do in Africa!  They wear white linen and get carried about by the locals.
Then they shoot a bunch of animals and put their heads on the walls when they get home.

I think things have probably changed since this though... probably stopped when apartheid was stopped or something.

So, our version of Safari is me and Nic in an awesome car (with air con) travelling from campsite to campsite.  We will see animals, but hopefully not kill too many.  Some flies and mozzies will be killed though.

Bumblebee!
A bit of safari prep, then... Here's an article from the Telegraph about what to pack for a safari.

And here's another list of 'safari essentials' - this one is slightly less patronising)

Sarah and Nic on Safari (it looks like he's just broken out of prison)
And here's a load more useful tips for safaris.

  1. Safari is THE BEST experience ever. Go to the Ruaha in Tanzania and stay with the Fox family! Their guides were awesome! Don't go to his coffee plantation in the hills unless you want a truely colonial experience.
