Saying Goodbye to Railay

Tomorrow we leave Railay for Ko Lanta. It was ridiculously easy to book the travel. We thought it would be a nightmare and we'd have to arrange each different boat separately, but it turns out to be a piece of piss.

I will be sad to leave Railey, it is probably the most beautiful place that I've seen. It's been an amazing start to our adventures.

I think we may have spoilt ourselves too early on though and now nothing we see later will compare to Railey. If this happens, we'll just come back here!

Yet another phallic rock in Railay
However, to be honest a week is probably a good amount of time to spend here. It's not that big and we've pretty much seen all of it by now.

If it had to have a downside, I suppose that it is a bit too posh here. There are people who have brought their nannies on holiday with them here! There is one particular lady who has brought her nanny and we don't like her, she looks mean and never smiles. Once Nic took a bit of toast that might have been her's and she scowled at him. I feel sorry her child.

Another problem (although not Railay's fault) is that we both got sick here. Lonely Planet says it is normal to get sick in the first couple of weeks. I say "Shut up, Lonely Planet, that doesn't help me when I'm lying on the bathroom floor thinking I might actually die from over-vomiting!''

But I'm pretty much ok now, but poor Nic has been sick today. I hope it gets better for tomorrow, it would suck to travel whilst being sick.

Walking off into the sea
So we've had a couple of quiet days, being sick and staying out of the sun and reading. It's all pretty nice (apart from the violent illness).

I'm now getting excited about Ko Lanta, it's been recommended by quite a few people, so I think it'll be pretty sweet.

Because we'll be staying in Lanta over Christmas, we wanted to make sure we booked something before hand (just in case we arrive and it's all packed out... we're not traveller-y enough for that yet) so we've booked another resort-type place near a cool beach. It looks a bit like this:

Here's the sign for the toilet
It's called Moonwalk, after everyone's favourite dance!

  1. I believe Koh Lanta is absolutely beautiful, so looks like you're in for a wonderful Christmas! Sorry to hear you have both been sick. Make sure you drink lots of liquids, water etc and take electrolytes to replenish all the good things you have lost. Rehidrat is a good one. Comes in powder form in a packet and you mix it in a glass of water! You can buy from a chemist. Have a great day and get better Nic. From Dr Ma xxx
