We Arrive at Ko Lanta

Tomato soup
Sadly we have to leave Railay and we get on a 'speed boat' to Ko Lanta. It is not a particularly fast speed boat, but it was very fun to sit out on the deck and dangle my feet over the side as we went along.

I have still been feeling pretty dodgy, and I felt a bit sick on the boat, but it soon past. We get to Ko Lanta and there are loads of guys trying to get you into their cab. It's a bit of a shock after the calm of the boat.

We get past the guys and drag our bags into a cool little restaurant on stilts that looks a bit like a playgroup for adults.

Pineapple tissue holders!

We had a little food and then got a weird bike with an extension thing to our resort.

Feeling sick
The guys bike seemed to keep cutting out and we all just pretended that nothing had happened, which was a bit odd. It was probably quite exciting but I had just eaten and everything that I was eating was trying to get out fast at the moment. I just felt queasy.

We got to our resort and it's nowhere near as grand as where we were in Raliey, but it's clean.

Our little shed
It's a bit basic and we were a bit shocked for a while as it's the same price as Rrailay but there main problem was the sockets were wrong and we couldn't plug our stuff in. We went to the very energetic Burmese lady who very much wanted to help us and asked if she had an adaptor. "Oh yes, adaptor will be here at 6.'' she said. We said 'Oh, that's good." and went off happily.

It was only after we saw the most awesome sunset in the world...

and found our new favourite bar... Mushrooms!

and were walking home that we thought this was the funniest thing ever "The adaptor will be here at 6." (might not be funny if you weren't there, but was very, very funny if you were).

Then Tar (the Burmese lady) said she was going to give us her adaptor because she had to. We felt guilty, but she frog marched us back to her apartment (with a man following us.. I thought that everyone had got confused to what an adaptor actually was, and the man was here to help us carry it back with us).

But now we have an adaptor, it is old and leaks stuff.

  1. Leaking adapters? Love the fact that there is only one in the whole resort. And YOU got it! Hooray!

  2. This really made me laugh! I can just imagine you travelling along in this rickety old rikki taxi bike pretending everything is normal! So chilled. One adaptor in the whole hotel, yes, like one hair dryer in the whole hotel. Anyway, leave your expectations behind and just go with the flow. As long as the room is clean and cheerful .... nothing else really matters, after all, you haven't exactly bought the hotel. Have fun. Wish we could be with you! Lotsaluv xxx
